HeadSmart

Brain tumours kill more children and under 40's than any other cancer and yet under 2% of government funding for cancer is spent on brain tumour research.

The Brain Tumour Charity and Headsmart campaign aim to reduce the time it takes to diagnose brain tumours in children and young adults as they are often misdiagnosed initially for other illnesses.

This year we are fundraising under our own name of The Wight Brainy Bunch (www.thewightbrainybunch.org.uk) to help support brain tumour patients and their families here on the Island and we have set up an Island support group with the help of the Wessex Cancer Trust.

We are keen to raise awareness of the symptoms across the Island as early diagnosis is vital for successful treatment. Headsmart provides a credit card size symptom card which lists the common signs and symptoms in children and young people across 3 age ranges and provides advice for parents if a child is experiencing any of these symptoms
